Technocamps Robotics Competition 2018 - Autonomous ArtistsPublished on 09 May 2018
We are pleased to announce that the Technocamps Robotics Competition is back with the final competition day to be held on the 5th of July 2018. The theme of this year's competition is "Autonomous Artists" and we are challenging pupils from across Wales to answer the question: "Are robots capable of producing Art?"
The challenge is to design and create a robot which is capable of producing art. This could be in any form, whether performing, musical, drawing or anything else you may think of, Creativity is the key!
Teams must come up with an original design for their robot, then develop and prototype it ready to present at the competition final. The final will also incorporate a LIVE challenge - details of which will be announced at the event.
Remember when creating the robot, it is essential to consider the following:
- Is it innovative? How is it different to current technologies available? Does it solve a ‘unique’ problem?
- Will it enhance and enrich artistic performances? What features allow your robot to outstip the performance of a human?
- How is your robot better than its competitors? Why would someone prefer to use a robot than a human to complete your chosen task?
- Have fun and be creative!
Technocamps will loan the LEGO Mindstorms robot kits to competing Technoclubs (if required), along with any resources necessary to create their robot.
We hope that you are able to take part in the competition, last year’s event was a huge success and we are looking forward to replicating it this year. In 2017, schools across South and West Wales took part in the Technocamps Robotics Competition with the winners being awarded a LEGO Mindstorms kit for their school.
